I was thinking few years ago that
someday I have to create a blog. That because I know this technology, and I was
following some blogs. However, because I decided to read carefully and learn
about the blog before I create it, I feel lazy each time I think about it. So,
I am happy that I did it for this class, and I surprised that creating a blog
is so easier than I thought. On the other hand, RSS was something I have never
hear about it. I surprised when I learned how it can bring the newest from my
favorite websites. I liked the idea of RSS reader, and I liked how it can save
my time. I feel sad that I did not know about it before. I am very excited to learn
more and more valuable technologies.
If I would like to put the blog and
the RSS reader in the Dale’s Cone, I think they can be under two parts
depending on what we post on them. First they can be in the “verbal symbols”
part because we use them to write and read. Also, we may post videos or a
pictures, so, they can be under the visual symbols.
Considering Siegel’s concept of
“computer imagination”, I think the blog and the RSS can be used in different
imaginative ways. For example, as a teacher, I can post in my blog more
creative and interesting information related to the topic I have taught that
day. So, I can keep the students engaged to the lesson. I, also, can put some
suggested links that they can put in their RSS reader to keep the students updated
with their interest. Also, by using the educational blog, I can give the
students a space to post their questions about the lesson any time they want. I
am sure that the creative teachers can do more valuable and amazing ideas using
the blog and RSS reader.
