My reflections on Postman's Of Luddites, Learning, and Life & Beyond Technology Integration by Reigeluth and Joseph

firs of all, I would like to say " thank you" to my classmate Luis Medina because I copied her long title from her reflection in the e-learning.

Here is my own reflection:

I was interested reading the two articles that are about technology and education. For Joseph’s article, he discussed whether technology will support the teaching methods to improve the learning process. He also was asking what they will need to success for the ‘technology transformation”. I found myself agree with his points. I like when he said “to meet these new educational needs, our educational system must switch its focus from sorting to learning…”  I also was remembering some experiences or situation that support and incarnate some of his points. “For example, when he mentioned how technology “can be used to create methods that were previously not feasible”, the first thing comes into my mind was: how the internet improves the education. People in the past were not able to be updated with the new global changes and additions in the different learning fields. They were traveling over the seas to learn and research, but today, they can research and participate in classes while they are sitting in their houses. He also emphasizes the roles that people paly beside the technology in the education and how teachers can help in the technology transformation. This point reminds me many years ago when my big sister’s school provided by a computer lab, the problem was, at that time, that not all the teachers were familiar with using the computer. So, for the first months there were no big benefit from that lab, but after the teachers had training courses in using computer, the benefit realized.

When I start reading the second article by Neil postman, I was about to be sure that the author is an old man. I did a quick research about the author and I found that I am right and he wrote that article when he was around 62 years old. To tell the truth, in the beginning I felt that this man do not like the changes that technology did in the life. He was caring about the economy and the bad things that he thinks the technology cause. However, in the very last paragraph I felt that his words implied something else that I did not understand. In short, I don’t think that technology is really bad and that is normal that people cannot read everything written.
